From a Problem to a Solution

It all started with a simple but frustrating experience. As someone heavily involved in the local sports community, I often faced challenges when trying to book venues for training sessions, games, and events. The process was outdated and time-consuming—I had to scroll through individual websites that often lacked photos, pricing, or availability details. This meant I had to email and call schools directly, leading to a lot of back-and-forth communication and delays.

The tipping point came when our team had to cancel multiple practices because we couldn’t find a venue in time. At the same time, I started seeing news articles about kids being turned away from sports clubs due to a lack of facilities. I also read government whitepapers calling for better utilization of school facilities after hours. That’s when I thought—this is a no-brainer. There has to be a better way.

The Lightbulb Moment

After speaking with other coaches, school administrators, and community organisers, I realised I wasn’t alone. Schools had underutilised facilities sitting empty after hours, and sports clubs were desperate for reliable spaces. Yet, there was no easy way to connect the two.

That’s when the idea for Facility Finder was born—a marketplace designed to simplify the process of finding and booking venues. Instead of chasing emails and phone calls, I envisioned a platform where schools could list their facilities and clubs could book them instantly.

Building the Platform

Creating Facility Finder wasn’t easy, but it was driven by purpose. We worked closely with schools to understand their needs, from availability management to payment processing and compliance tracking. At the same time, we made the platform user-friendly for sports clubs, allowing them to search, compare, and book venues in minutes.

The goal was simple—eliminate the headaches that both sides faced and create more opportunities for schools to earn extra revenue while supporting local sports communities.
